With a humble beginning in 1955 at jail road, Basant Ice Creams, Basant achieved many landmarks, achievements in the trade & became a hot spot for the Ludhianvis & a perfect host for the regular visitors to the city. Basant group is professionally managed by its promoters Rajinder Singh Basant, Kanwalpreet Singh Basant.

I happened to interview Mr. Kanwalpreet Singh Basant, co-owner and promoter of Basant Group of Resorts.

In 1992 Mr. Kanwalpreet Singh Basant laid milestone by entering into the fast food business, established at Field Ganj. It was his own initiative to start a new business. At that time he had just completed first year of graduation. He hadn’t got any formal training to managing a hotel or fast food business. This fast food business was wholly started by himself as none in there family was experienced enough to handle this business. He selected this particular business because there were few fast food joints in ludhiana, the Fast food industry is growing, Lot of potential is there in this industry.

He lays great emphasis & importance on practical training, according to him one should have to be practical . He very well understands the importance and need of new potential customers. He is of viewpoint that new customers are necessary in a business to survive and boosting the business. As present world is about alluring the customers too, he feels that different schemes and discounts are some of ways of adding new customers which are a plus point to existing business. This helps him to tackle the competition in the industry.

Further he said, doing business was never so easy there are always ups and downs.
But we must treat every down as an opportunity to go up.

In regard to expansion, he suggest when resources are there than expansion is to be done for growth of the business and this is being done in the form franchisee model. Basant group also has various franchises in Punjab.
